Without the room to breath that the comics had the relationship never really evolved passed "Nerdy guy wants hot girl" tropes. Save for the iconic upside down kiss I would have preferred Peter date Landlords daughter or just be single vs obsessing over a person. I came into the Raimi movies already rooting for the relationship because of comics/cartoon/cultural osmosis. I did it once and it worked, in Anon tho, before they behead me. ![]() Don't even get me started on the domestic violence stuff. Anon 19:22:-you got the trick of becoming popular on this blog, when everybody is going North, just go South, trust me in a day or two, everybody will be hailing you. Even before the symbiote attaches to Peter he's kissing other women in public and just being an ass to MJ. Its was teased at the end of 2 with the go get'em tiger line (where MJ cheats on her fiance) that they'd have a pretty supportive relationship in 3 but nope. There's never a moment in the Raimi trilogy where they are happy as a couple. MJ and Peter are always either lying or cheating on each other/their partners. Since the Raimi films are romantic soap operas each movie had to have some convoluted plot to keep them apart/put them in conflict. I also find the very melodramatic relationship type that Raimi was going for to be very toxic and tiring. ![]() The MJ and Peter relationship in the comics is one of the GOAT's but I found that Dunst and Maguire didn't have much chemistry as actors(even if they were dating behind the scene).
